Summer is in full swing, and these hot days haven’t slowed me down! From meaningful investments in our community to legislation that’s one step closer to becoming law, there’s a lot of good news to share. I’ve also been out and about across the district, connecting with neighbors, hearing your concerns, and launching our new “Get the Scoop” series to bring the Capitol a little closer to home.

__SALUTATION__

Summer is in full swing, and these hot days haven't slowed me down! From meaningful investments in our community to legislation that's one step closer to becoming law, there's a lot of good news to share. I've also been out and about across the district, connecting with neighbors, hearing your concerns, and launching our new "Get the Scoop" series to bring the Capitol a little closer to home.

I'm excited for what's ahead and grateful to be on this journey with you.

Warm Regards,

Legislative Update

Two of my bills, AB 741 and AB 1414, have reached the Senate Floor with bipartisan support from the Assembly. Once they pass, they'll be the first bills I've authored to head to the Governor's desk for his consideration.

  • AB 741 - CASA Volunteer Oversight
    • Currently, CASA volunteers undergo a background check every four years.
    • This bill ensures that if a volunteer is flagged for child abuse, that information is reported immediately to the Child Abuse Central Index, so we don't have to wait years to find out or risk putting a child in harm's way.
  • AB 1414 - Internet Service Choice for Tenants
    • Right now, some renters are being forced to pay for internet service they didn't choose, may not prefer, or simply can't afford.
    • This bill protects a tenant's right to choose their internet provider (without landlord interference) so families can access the service that fits their needs and budget.

State Budget Wins

I'm proud to share two major wins we secured in this year's state budget. These investments will directly support our families, survivors, drive innovation, and jobs in our region.

$10 Million for California Family Justice Centers

When the May Revise came out and I saw that Family Justice Centers weren't included, I knew I had to do something. These centers are safe spaces for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and elder abuse. This $10 million investment means they can keep their doors open and continue providing critical, life-saving services

$8 Million for BEAM Circular's Bioeconomy Innovation Campus

For generations, The Central Valley has fed the world through agriculture, and now, even our agricultural scraps are helping fuel the future. This new campus will serve as a hub for advancing technologies that transform agricultural waste, food scraps, and forest residues into renewable energy, sustainable materials, and other biobased products. We are growing innovation, good-paying jobs, and real solutions to climate challenges.
