On March 31, we celebrate the legacy of labor leader César Chávez, whose tireless work on behalf of farmworkers continues to stand as a shining example of what is possible when regular working people organize behind a cause that is just.
Many will enjoy a day off on Chávez’s birthday, a fitting tribute to a leader in labor rights, but the occasion is also an opportunity for reflection and service. This weekend, consider volunteering in your community, or take part in celebrations of César Chávez’s life and work.
