Assemblymember Susan Eggman’s statement on rebranded BDCP

Thursday, April 30, 2015

SACRAMENTO - Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman released the following statement today, after the release of Gov. Brown's revised plan to build two tunnels under the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta for the diversion of water south.

"The Governor's new plan for the Delta is the same as the old plan for the Delta: Suck the water out in the name of "restoring" habitat, when the greatest threat to the Delta and its species is, in fact, the continued and rising demand for its water. This plan, in all its forms, does nothing but enable a status quo that the public, after years of drought, is now painfully aware is unsustainable. It's also disappointing, after so much productive effort has been spent on the drought, to be confronted with a plan that is really nothing but a rebranded peripheral canal."
