Thursday, January 14, 2016

(Stockton, CA) – Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman (D-Stockton) was the host for a Public Forum of the State Assembly’s Select Committee on the Status of Women and Girls of Color. Committee Chair Nora Campos (D-San Jose) and Committee member Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) were also on hand for the forum. The Select Committee and its panel of experts discussed what factors impact the lives of women and girls of color and their families. Specifically, what promotes success? What limits success? More than a dozen women and girls from the audience also testified. The Stockton hearing and previous meetings in San Jose and Los Angeles will help create the platform the Select Committee will use for future hearings and future policy.
