Improving the Oversight of Elderly Care Homes

(Sacramento) – Assembly Bill 1571, authored by Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman (D-Stockton), which would improve oversight and standard of care at residential elder care facilities, is part of a package of legislation known as the Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) Reform Act. Assemblymember  Eggman authored AB 1571 following revelations of severe lapses in care and oversight at residential care facilities in Castro Valley and San Diego County. Assemblymember Eggman is a social worker by background, and brought with her to the legislature a commitment to improving end-of-life care and care for the elderly.
