Receiving Legislator of the Year

Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom receiving her award alongside leaders from the CA Family Justice Network and local San Joaquin County Family Justice Center leadership and San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas.

I'm deeply honored to have been named the 2025 Legislator of the Year by the California Family Justice Network and the San Joaquin Family Justice Center. I accept this award on behalf of the resilient survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, and all forms of abuse. Supporting survivors isn't just about policy- it's a personal commitment. That's why I'm working to enhance support systems and secure funding for Family Justice Centers across the state and I co-authored AB 379 which makes it a crime to loiter with the intent to purchase commercial sex, establishes a first-of-its-kind "Survivor Support Fund" to assist victims of sex trafficking, and clarifies that purchasing a child for sex is a crime in any case involving a victim under the age of 18. Together, we're striving for a future where every survivor has access to the resources they need to heal and thrive.

How I am Protecting our Delta

Asm. Rhodesia Ransom announcing an official audit of the Department of Water Resources during the Delta Caucus Press Conference

The Delta Conveyance Project is a proposed underground tunnel that would divert water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to other parts of the state. I partnered with Restore the Delta to conduct an official audit of the Department of Water Resources and this costly, controversial project. It threatens our farmland, strains local communities, and lacks transparency. With over $700 million already spent and an unclear price tag that could exceed $20 billion, continuing without accountability is unacceptable, especially during a budget crisis. Our families, farmers, and tribes deserve answers.

Emergency Preparedness

Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom during the Emergency Management hearing committee hearing.

As wildfire season approaches, I want our community to know that preparedness is a top priority. As Chair of the Assembly Emergency Management Committee, I introduced AJR 11 to urge Congress and the President to restore full funding for FEMA's Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program. The sudden cancellation of over $870 million in pre-approved hazard mitigation funds puts California communities at greater risk of preventable disasters.

Locally, the San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services (OES) plays a crucial role in disaster preparedness. I encourage you to sign up for emergency alerts at SJReady.org to receive timely information during emergencies.

Honoring AD13's Nonprofit of the Year

Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom recognizing Brighter Christmas with a CA State Assembly Resolution.

I'm thrilled to share that I had the honor of recognizing Brighter Christmas of Tracy as Assembly District 13's 2025 Nonprofit of the Year. For nearly 50 years, this incredible volunteer-run organization has brought joy and relief to families in need during the holidays, providing toys, books, food, and essentials to hundreds of local children and their families each year. It was a privilege to welcome them to the State Capitol, where we presented a formal resolution celebrating their decades of service and unwavering commitment to our community.
