Villapudua Issues Statement on Revised Budget Proposal

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Carlos Villapudua (D-Stockton) released the following statement today in response to the Governor’s May Revise.

“Despite the constrained fiscal environment we currently find ourselves in, California remains resilient and focused on many of our key values. A renewed attention toward water resilience, totaling $8.5 billion, will support clean drinking water, reliable water supplies, conservation efforts and flood protections.

“Public safety has been top of mind for many of our families right now. Investments in officer trainings, security grants, and task forces such as those to combat organized retail theft and the fentanyl crisis are good steps to be taking. I am hopeful and will continue to advocate for more robust resources for our law enforcement community to safely protect our streets and businesses so we may all sleep more easily at night.

“The persisting economic and job development framework will continue to fuel the entrepreneurial spirit that has been so strong through California’s history. Continued small business relief grants and tax credits, paired with an expansion to our child care system and universal transitional kindergarten will pave a clear path towards exciting job growth and business creation.

“A state with nearly 40 million residents inherently has many challenges to tackle. From the healthcare system to our housing supply, education to roads and bridges – we will continue to work towards a California in which everyone may thrive in.”
