Sacramento, CA — As part of Black History Month, the California Legislative Black Caucus (CLBC) and the California Black Chamber of Commerce (CBCC) hosted their Annual Legislative Brunch, celebrating Black excellence in business and community leadership across the state. This event recognizes outstanding Black-owned businesses that exemplify economic empowerment, leadership, and service to their communities.

Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom, a proud member of the CLBC, selected KJ’s Barbershop and Hair Creationz in Tracy, CA, as the honoree for Assembly District 13. A member of the Tracy Chamber of Commerce, KJ’s Barbershop is known for more than just high-quality grooming services. They serve as a hub for mentorship, economic opportunity, and community engagement.

Founder Joseph Cannon, with over 22 years in the barbering industry, has played a pivotal role in launching and supporting over 40 barbershops, including his flagship location in Tracy. Beyond providing jobs and driving economic growth in the region, Cannon is a dedicated advocate for financial literacy in the barbering industry. Through Joe Knows LLC, his financial planning company, he hosts educational webinars to equip barbers and stylists with essential financial skills. His mission—“No barber left behind”—reflects his commitment to uplifting his peers and strengthening the community. Joseph also offers aspiring barbers an opportunity to learn the practice through his apprenticeship program.

“Joseph Cannon’s dedication to job creation, mentorship, and financial empowerment makes him an invaluable leader in Tracy and beyond,” said Assemblymember Ransom. “Businesses like KJ’s Barbershop and Hair Creationz embody the spirit of Black entrepreneurship and community investment, and I’m proud to honor them this Black History Month.”
