
Designed For Rising Leaders
Inspired by Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom’s commitment to youth leadership and civic engagement, the Young Legislators Program offers high school seniors in Stockton, Tracy, Mountain House or French Camp a unique, hands-on opportunity to explore the legislative process, strengthen their leadership skills, and give back to their communities through volunteerism and public service.
Over the course of 6 months, young legislators will:
- Engage with state and local government officials
- Explore how legislation is drafted and passed
- Participate in service opportunities across Assembly District 13, Stockton Tracy and Mountain House.
- Enhance their public speaking, leadership, and collaborative skills
- Take part in a capstone experience in Sacramento
This free program gives high school seniors the tools and experiences they need to step into leadership. With hands-on learning, students will walk away with real-world skills that prepare them not just for college or careers, but to make a real difference in their communities.
- Duration: January 2026 - June 2026
- Meeting Frequency: One Saturday every month from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
- Community Engagement: Every month, attend two additional events with staff.
- Final Session: Trip to Sacramento for hands-on legislative experience.
- A high school senior enrolled in a school within Assembly District 13.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Be able to submit:
- Two letters of recommendations
- Resume with cover letter
- Willing to sign:
- Photo release form
- Liability waiver
- Commitment Contract
