Sacramento, CA – Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom recognizes Brighter Christmas of Tracy as the 2025 Nonprofit of the Year for California’s Assembly District 13, honoring the beloved Tracy-based organization for nearly five decades of service helping local families in need feel seen, supported, and celebrated during the holidays.
The recognition was made official at the State Capitol during California Nonprofits Day- an annual celebration hosted by CalNonprofits that spotlights standout organizations across the state and the communities they uplift.
Brighter Christmas Chairperson, Steve Abercrombie and Board members joined Assemblymember Ransom at the Capitol to accept the honor and represent the spirit of giving that defines their work. “The Brighter Christmas Board of Directors is quite honored to receive this recognition. It validates all the years of hard work and dedication to provide food and toys to families in need throughout the year. In addition to thanking Assemblymember Ransom, we thank the citizens of Tracy for their years of support and assistance.” Said Abercrombie.
Founded in 1976, Brighter Christmas of Tracy has grown into a community-wide tradition powered entirely by volunteers, providing food and toys to over 25,000 low-income families. In addition to serving families during the holidays, the organization also supports local nonprofits year-round with donations like food, toys, clothing, and supplies. Their outreach has benefited groups such as Valley Children’s Healthcare, Interfaith Ministries, the Boys and Girls Club, and Tracy Unified School District, among others. Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom is proud to honor their work and extends her heartfelt thanks to the volunteers, organizers, and supporters who make Brighter Christmas a symbol of hope in District 13.
