Sacramento, CA – Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom (D-Tracy) has delivered a major win for the people of Mountain House with the Governor’s signature on SB 506, which officially adds the City of Mountain House to the Tri-Valley San Joaquin Valley Regional Rail Authority governing board, the group responsible for overseeing the Valley Link rail project.
The new law takes effect on January 1, 2026.
Assemblymember Ransom led the effort to ensure Mountain House was included on the Valley Link board, recognizing the need for the growing city to have a voice in regional transportation planning. She first introduced the idea through her own legislation earlier this year and successfully secured its inclusion in SB 506.
The City of Mountain House officially became California’s 483rd incorporated city in 2024 making the changes under SB 506 necessary. This change will ensure the community of Mountain House, which is greatly affected by the future Valley Link service, is adequately represented. Thanks to Assemblymember Ransom’s efforts, Mountain House will now be directly involved in shaping decisions that connect the San Joaquin Valley to the Bay Area through clean, efficient rail service and helps reduce traffic over the Altamont Pass.
“Valley Link is key to addressing our region’s transportation challenges and connecting our communities. I’ve watched Mountain House grow into a strong and vibrant city, and this is another milestone the community can be proud of. With the project in its backyard, Mountain House deserves to have a voice in shaping its future.”
